Mobile Design Trends

As the increase in the number of mobile users is always going to be an upward trend, mobile site design needs to be an effective strategy that encourages customers to visit their site over the mobile phone repeatedly. Personalizing customer experience and differentiating site experience from competitors is the most important for site designers to concentrate on.

What is desirable for a customer is a personalized experience where the customer is welcomed when he logs in. The customer should then be directed to the products last viewed by him/her. Another differentiation factor can be by personalizing based on location. Based on where the customer is currently located, he/she should be provided directions to the store. Also, based on the time personalized experience can be created such as Comcast.

A company should focus on some techniques to attract customers using mobile app. They are stated below.

1. Branding – What the customer want when he/she is accessing your site through a mobile phone?

2. Site display on mobile devices – Customers should have easy access to the most visited pages. The key pages should have minimum content but relevant.

3. Leverage mobile device functionality – Focus on mobile standards such as if a customer wants to map the location of the store, it should be easily accessible and should be able to make use of maps on smartphones. The ‘contact us’ button should be easily available on the site. Also, if a customer wants to call, clicking on the number should directly place a call to the store and the customers does not have to dial the number.

e.g.: WhatsApp is an application on smart phones that follows this. However, mobile sites should provide the same facility.

HTML5 is changing the mobile world today. It has

• Richer canvas
• Can create a more beautiful and engaging advertisement
• Fixes the fragmentation issues – It thus allows advertisers to run it on any mobile operating system that embraces the technology.
• Speeds up load times – Implementation of HTML5 makes the ad rendering engine is lighter and simpler, thus speeding up load times and making it more suitable for resource-constrained mobile devices.
• Drives response rates – Allows the advertisers a different way to drive response rates without annoying or interrupting the user.
